The History On Centurion
Centurion is a town in the Gauteng province of South Africa with almost a quarter of a million people that stay there. it is situated between Pretoria and Midrand and was formerly known as Lyttleton.
Centurion has a population density of 600 square kilometres and a total area of almost 400 thousand square kilometres. racial makeup consists of 29% black African, 2% coloured people, 8% Indian people as well as Asian and 59% white people. The percentage of the first language is as follows in centurion. 49% of the people speak Afrikaans, 26% of the people in centurion speak English, 5% of the people speak Northern Sotho and 3% of the people speak to Tswana.
Most people don't know this but the Battle of Rooihuiskraal took place in Centurion in 1881. it was part of the first anglo-boer war in South Africa. Rooihuiskraal is now one of the Suburbs in Centurion and it means Red House kraal. Soon after the apartheid in South Africa the residence of centurion chose the name to be the same as the Centurion Park which today is called SuperSport Park, cricket stadium. The most popular sport in centurion is cricket and the SuperSport Park has hosted many Cricket World Cups.
Much the same as Johannesburg and Pretoria centurion is located on the Highveld and has climates that are much the same which is sunny and dry in the winter with temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius and warm too hot summers with thunderstorms and showers.
